About

Over the course of five consecutive days, you will develop new skills, meet other enthusiasts, and enjoy a friendly and stimulating atmosphere. Weather permitting, classes are held outdoors under the gazebo; otherwise, they are held in our bright workshop.

This intensive 25-hour training course is suitable for all levels of pottery experience. It will allow you to learn the basic techniques or perfect your skills by exploring more advanced methods.

You will discover and experiment with all the stages of creating a piece on the potter's wheel: throwing, trimming, finishing, and decorating with slip.

Offered in small groups (maximum 10 people), this course promotes learning at your own pace and personalized support.

At the end of the workshop, each participant will be able to fire their pieces and take them home. Firing and glazing will be carried out by the CAR team within three weeks of the end of the course.

The cost includes one bag of clay per participant, as well as the firing and glazing of your creations.

Professor Sarah-Jeanne Riberdy

Sarah-Jeanne lives and works in Montreal. Located on Avenue du Parc in the Mile End neighborhood, she shares her studio with lamp designer Jeta, with whom she has been collaborating since 2019. In 2012, she completed a technical degree in art at the Cégep du Vieux Montréal, in partnership with the École de céramique Bonsecours. She then continued her studies at Concordia University, where she obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2018, specializing in ceramics. That same year, she began working at the Rozynski Art Center, a ceramics center then in its early stages, where she coordinated workshops and taught. Since 2021, she has been teaching at the Centre des arts visuels (CAV/VAC) in Westmount and giving various advanced workshops. Her practice is driven by a desire to give meaning to everyday objects in order to beautify and enrich our living environments and the actions we perform within them.
